Nagaland RTO Vehicle Registration Office Code and District Number List 2024
Nagaland RTO 2024: In 1963, Nagaland took a significant step by founding its own Motor Vehicles Department, in line with the stipulations of section 133-A of the Motor Vehicles Act of 1933, which is also referred to as section 213 of the 1988 version of the act. This department functions under the framework established by the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, alongside the Central Motor Vehicles Rules from 1989, the Nagaland Motor Vehicles Act enacted in 1967, and the Motor Vehicles Taxation Rules introduced in 1972. Its key roles encompass the registration and licensing of motor vehicles, the collection of revenue through road and passenger/goods taxes, as well as the issuance of driving licenses.
To ensure these functions are carried out efficiently, the state has set up eight Registering and Licensing Offices across various locations. These offices are situated in Kohima and Mokokchung, and also serve the districts of Mon, Tuensang, Wokha, Dimapur, Phek, and Zunheboto. To uphold compliance with the MV Acts and related regulations, the department features an Enforcement wing. This team includes Senior Enforcement Inspectors, Enforcement Inspectors, Assistant Enforcement Inspectors, and Motor Vehicle Checkers, all positioned at the Regional Transport Offices in Kohima and Mokokchung, along with the District Transport Office in Dimapur.
