Sikkim RTO Vehicle Registration Office Code and District Number List 2024
Sikkim RTO 2024: The Motor Vehicles Division plays a crucial role within the Transport Department of the Sikkim Government. Its main focus is on the rigorous enforcement and successful application of laws linked to the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, the Central Motor Vehicles Rules of 1989, the Sikkim Motor Vehicle Rules of 1991, and the Sikkim Motor Vehicles (Taxation) Act of 1982.
Moreover, this division is tasked with ensuring adherence to regulations regarding vehicle registration, the issuance of driving licenses, permits, and the collection of vehicle taxes. This important duty has been assigned to the Motor Vehicles Division as per Notification No 22/Home/2004, dated March 3, 2004, according to the Government of Sikkim’s Allocation of Business Rules. It’s essential to note that every motor vehicle is required to be registered with the appropriate Registering Authority, which is based on the owner’s primary residence or where the vehicle is usually stored.
To enhance public service, the Sikkim State Transport Department has set up eight Regional Transport Office (RTO) branches that provide a wide array of vehicle-related services.
